Recruitment of new palliative care group chair or co-chairs

RM Partners is recruiting a new chair for the Palliative Care Group, and a number of people have expressed interest in undertaking this role as a job share. As a result, we are now also encouraging job share candidates who reflect the diversity of roles in the palliative care and end of life care workforce. Recruitment is open to healthcare professionals working across north west and south west London only.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence the quality and equity of palliative and end of life care services in west London. The appointee(s) will provide leadership for 1 Programmed Activity (equivalent of 4 hours) per week (or 0.5 PA each if taken as job share) to support the group’s agenda, to chair the six-weekly meetings and regular stakeholder events.

The Palliative Care Group meets every six weeks to share experience, best practice and innovation in the delivery of services across west London, with the additional involvement of colleagues in south east London. This is supported by the RM Partners senior leadership team, informatics services and senior project management.

Over the past year the RM Partners Palliative Care Group has been developing business case information that providers can use to help them improve access to seven day specialist palliative care provision and access to enhanced end of life care provision in the community. In addition, the group has worked with the RM Partners informatics team to develop metrics and create tailored packages for providers and commissioners from national data sets around end of life care as well as supporting the spread of tools such as the unified documentation for specialist palliative care referrals and syringe pump management.

Applicants are asked to submit a CV and cover letter to rmpartners.admin@nhs.net, and the closing date for applications is 5pm on Thursday 29 March. Interviews will be held on Monday 30 April.

Informal discussions can be held with Dr Sarah Cox, current RMP Palliative Care Group chair sarah.cox@chelwest.nhs.uk and Maureen McGinn, Senior Project Manager maureen.mcginn@nhs.net.
