New pancreatic cancer family history checker launched

Pancreatic Cancer UK has launched a new Family History Checker, supported by NHS England. This allows people to check their family risk by answering three quick questions.

Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival of any common cancer. While most cases of pancreatic cancer do not run in families, around 1 in 10 pancreatic cancers are inherited.

This campaign has been launched to increase awareness of the inherited risk, and help people find out if this could apply to them.

The campaign aims to increase referrals of those who may have an inherited risk of pancreatic cancer to the national study known as the European Registry of Hereditary Pancreatic Diseases (EUROPAC), so they can find out if they may be eligible for regular monitoring, which could save their life.

Patients can check their eligibility using the simple online Family History Checker and self refer to the EUROPAC study if appropriate, available at Family History Checker
