About Cancer Alliances
As a result of recommendations made by the Independent Cancer Taskforce report, ‘Achieving world-class cancer outcomes: a strategy for England 2015-2020’, NHS England established 21 Cancer Alliances to transform cancer pathways and improve the quality and value of cancer services locally.
Cancer Alliances work to transform the diagnosis, treatment, and care for cancer patients by working collaboratively with hospital Trusts and other health and social care organisations across their geography. These partnerships enable care to be more effectively planned across local cancer pathways, help drive system improvement, support integration in cancer services, and address variation and implement best practice.
As a Cancer Alliance, we work closely with our Integrated Care System (ICS) partners in north west London and south west London ICS(s) to deliver the NHS Long Term Plan commitments for cancer for their populations.
NHS England provides all Cancer Alliances with funding, support, and guidance to assist in their work.
