Successful cervical screening project roll out

RM Partners successful project to increase cervical screening participation is being rolled out to a further seven boroughs in west London.

It was initially run as a pilot in Hammersmith and Fulham, Merton and Wandsworth, and offered extended hours cervical screening clinics during early morning, evenings and weekends at convenient locations close to transport links. This made it easier for women who received an invitation to take up this lifesaving test.

Across the three boroughs almost 1,900 additional women took up their invitation to be screened.

We are now working with GP Federations in Central London, Croydon, Ealing, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Sutton and West London, to provide similar clinics in their locality.

RM Partners developed the approach with Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust to improve awareness and increase opportunities of access for cervical screening by offering accessible clinics out of hours, whilst utilising existing clinics by calling people who have not attended. Each Federation has developed a model that works for their local population.

Jo’s Trust has also provided/offered free training to each of the Federations for the administrators and receptionists who are calling eligible patients to encourage them to participate.
