RAPID prostate pathway videos launched

Two videos explaining the new RAPID (Rapid Access to Prostate Imaging and Diagnosis) pathway to diagnose suspected prostate cancer have been produced by RM Partners.

The RAPID pathway is being piloted at three west London Trusts: Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, Imperial College Healthcare Trust, and St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The RAPID pathway is a one-stop model where men have a multi-parametric MRI, followed by an assessment with a specialist clinician and, if necessary, a specialist biopsy using the latest technology – all on the same day. This means that those who have no or low grade prostate cancer can be safely discharged without further investigation, back to the care of their GP; and those who do have a prostate cancer find out quickly and can begin appropriate treatment.

We have produced two information videos: one for patients, to give an overview of the service and what to expect if they are going to be investigated for suspected prostate cancer at one of our three pilot sites; and one for healthcare professionals, other cancer alliances and clinical commissioning groups, to help support them in setting up a similar service in their area

We would like to thank the project teams and everyone who took part in the making of these videos.
