Prime Minister visits our lung health checks mobile scanner in Sutton

RM Partners was delighted to receive a visit by the Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP, Prime Minister, to our lung health check mobile scanning unit in Sutton on Friday 28 October 2022.

The visit provided the Prime Minister with an opportunity to find out more about the programme in west London, and how it is contributing to earlier diagnosis of lung cancer.

During the visit, he was shown around the mobile unit and introduced to the clinical team by Dr Emily Bartlett, consultant radiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital, which is the lead Trust for the project.

The team provided a demonstration of how the scanning unit worked.

Dr Bartlett said: ‘We discussed the importance of early diagnosis of lung cancer and the positive impact on five year survival rates that can be achieved through CT screening of people who currently smoke or who previously smoked.’

The Prime Minister and Dr Bartlett also met a patient undergoing a follow-up CT scan, who spoke positively about his journey from receiving his initial invitation for a lung health check to his scans.

RM Partners currently provides targeted lung health checks to eligible patients in Hammersmith and Fulham, Hillingdon, and Sutton. We are implementing the service in three further  boroughs in 2022/23, prior to participating in the NHS England national roll out from 2023/24.
