New video to reassure endoscopy patients

RM Partners has produced a new information video for patients scheduled for an endoscopy, to reassure them that it is safe to attend their appointment.
The video is presented by gastroenterology consultant Dr Jonathan Hoare at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He explains what patients can expect in the days leading up to the procedure, and what measures staff are taking, such as wearing personal protective equipment and carrying out robust cleaning procedures, to ensure their safety.
Hospitals across the country report that patients are reluctant to attend for procedures such as endoscopy due to concerns about the risk of COVID. This creates a risk for the patient involved, as the sooner a condition is identified, any necessary treatment can begin. And if patients decide not to attend, either prior to their procedure or even on the day itself, that appointment cannot always be offered to someone else.
We hope the video will be made widely available to patients in advance of their procedure, to help address any concerns they may have or prompt them to ask their local hospital to clarify certain aspects of their local procedure.
