New guidance for managing CIPN symptoms
02 Sep 2019
RM Partners has produced new treatment guidance for healthcare professionals on managing symptoms of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN).
CIPN is a common side effect of certain chemotherapy agents. Symptoms can include altered sensation and pain, which can greatly diminish quality of life. While these symptoms may be transient and resolve soon after treatment is complete, they may persist.
The guidance can be used to identify high risk groups in order to implement preventive measures or measures that may help alleviate symptoms.
The guidance was developed by the Peripheral Neuropathy Working Group, under the remit of the RM Partners Living With and Beyond Cancer Pathway Group, and led by Dr Claire Taylor MBE, Macmillan Nurse Consultant in Colorectal Cancer
