New colorectal pathway GP video

RM Partners has created a video to help GPs better understand the new colorectal diagnostic pathway being rolled out across west London and how to refer their patients.

Produced with Dr David Burling, consultant radiologist, Dr Adam Haycock, consultant gastroenterologist, and Matt Fitzpatrick, divisional general manager, at St Mark’s Hospital, the video shows how the pathway for patients on a 2ww urgent referral has been designed to enable them to be triaged ‘straight to test’, enabling quicker diagnosis. It explains the logistics of the pathway, from point of referral on e-RS, through triage, phone consultation and arrival at the Trust for diagnostic tests or outpatient appointments.

The video is intended to further demonstrate what patients should expect to experience, so GPs are better placed to answer any questions that their patients may have.

The new colorectal diagnostic pathway is currently in use across Brent and Harrow CCGs, and is being rolled out to Croydon, Merton and Wandsworth CCGs. Initial findings indicate the new pathway has led to improved quality and efficiency, and helps ensure patients see the right clinician and have the right test at the right time.
