Easier to access cervical cancer screening clinics launched in Merton

RM Partners is working in partnership with the Merton GP Federation and Merton CCG to offer new evening and weekend cervical cancer screening clinics at convenient locations close to transport links. The aim is to make it easier for women in the borough who received an invitation to take up this lifesaving test.

Cervical cancer is the most common form of cancer in women under 35, with two women in the UK per day dying from the disease. 

Providing additional clinics is part of our work to increase participation in the national NHS cervical screening programme, as only 67% of eligible women in Merton get screened against the national target of 80%. 

Nicola Hunt, RM Partners Managing Director, said: ‘Participation in this life saving test is at a 20 year low across England, and incidence of cervical cancer is worryingly high. Having regular screening offers the best protection against developing this disease and we are pleased to support these additional clinics and make it more convenient for women in Merton to attend.’
