NHS Cancer Innovation Fund call for projects

A call for projects has just been announced to help swiftly bring new and existing cancer care innovations to the NHS frontline. Contracts awarded will be for a maximum of 18 months for up to £5 million (including VAT), subject to justification.

The pandemic has changed how we deliver cancer care and services in unprecedented ways. Despite the challenges, it has shown that the NHS has the ability to innovate quickly and roll out new technology that can improve outcomes.

RM Partners is looking to coordinate submissions with Trusts, Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs), other Cancer Alliances and industry contacts as we will help support delivery of the innovations.

This year’s competition invites application for funding to implement solutions in late-stage development into the following front-line clinical cancer care settings:

  • Early detection and diagnosis of cancer
  • Diagnostic efficiency of cancer services

Late-stage development is defined as innovations and technologies that have already proved their clinical effectiveness and are ready to be rolled out locally or nationally for real world testing. 

This includes innovations (e.g. medical device, in vitro diagnostic, digital health solutions, behavioural intervention, software, hardware, technology, new models of care etc.) which meet the following requirements:

  • CE mark or equivalent regulatory approval obtained, and/or
  • in use in at least 1 Trust (use in a large-scale research study would qualify for this criterion).

  • Call opens – w/c 4th April
  • Call closes – End of May
