Lung health checks restart in Hillingdon

The RM Partners Targeted Lung Health Checks Programme has restarted in Hillingdon, following the pause as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The aim of the project is to find more lung cancers at an earlier, more treatable stage.

Patients aged 55-75, with a history of smoking, are being invited via their GP to have a lung health check. These now take place on the telephone with a specialist nurse who will ask a range of questions about breathing, medical and smoking history, and any lung-related symptoms.

Depending on the outcome of the check, a patient may then be invited to have a low dose CT of their lungs at the mobile scanner unit, located in the car park of Tesco in Yiewsley.

The mobile scanner is in a new, purpose-built unit that is comfortable and spacious. The mobile unit team carry out a number of measures to keep everyone safe, including wearing personal protective equipment and undertaking robust cleaning procedures.

We are continuing to offer targeted lung health checks to patients in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, where they were restarted in August.
