Sharing achievements and showcasing projects

Our recent stakeholder event on 25 January provided an opportunity to share our key achievements, showcase specific examples of our work, and gain an understanding of the challenges in delivering our transformation projects.
Nicola Hunt, RM Partners Managing Director, welcomed attendees and presented some of our key achievements including:
- We are currently ranked the #1 Cancer Alliance for system delivery of 62 day standard.
- 25 cancers have been caught to date through the multidisciplinary clinics at St George’s, Croydon and Epsom hospitals.
- There was an 18.5% improvement in urology 62 day performance at Charing Cross Hospital during Q2 due to implementation of our RAPID prostate pilot.
- In Q2, for the first time, we exceeded over 70% of patients having an Holistic Needs Assessment (HNA) within 30 days of diagnosis.
- RM Partners bid for the PET CT tender in west London.
- Over 800 patients to date have been recruited to our FIT research study with the aim of recruiting over 5,000 patients by September 2018.
- Over 450 patients have been through our colorectal pilot pathway at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.
- The biosimilars project accelerated uptake and increased savings in RM Partners.
- Our Patient Advisory Group was established and will provide challenge and patient perspective on our work programme.
There were presentations by a number of clinicians who are working in partnership with RM Partners to pilot projects to improve early diagnosis.
Professor Hashim Ahmed, Professor of Urology, Imperial College, outlined the RAPID prostate pathway and its benefits to patients in terms of outcomes and improved experience. Dr David Burling, Consultant Radiologist at St Mark’s Hospital, detailed the colorectal pathway redesign, and Dr Tom Newsom-Davis, Consultant Medical Oncologist, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, appeared via video to explain the low dose lung CT pilot project to increase early diagnosis of lung cancer.
There were also inspiring presentations from Dr Jatinder Harchowal, Chief Pharmacist, The Royal Marsden, and Stephen Scott, Head of Informatics, RM Partners, on the value of working together across the system, with specific examples of the innovative work being delivered by the medicine optimisation pathway group and the value our informatics service provides to our partner organisations.
In table discussions during the final session, attendees were asked to consider the key challenges in delivering RM Partners transformation projects from now to March 2019, and suggest ways we can work together to address the challenges and how best to prioritise our time and energy to deliver next year. We will use these responses to review our priorities for 2018/19.
