New pan-London guidelines for haematological cancers

The three Cancer Alliances in London (RM Partners, South East London Accountable Cancer Network and UCLH Cancer Collaborative) have jointly published new guidelines for the treatment of haematological cancers in London. The guidelines cover a range of cancers including leukaemia, lymphoma and plasma cell disorders.

This is the first time that guidelines for treating haematological cancers (also known as blood cancers) have been published to cover the whole of London, and will help to make sure that all blood cancer patients in London receive the same world class care.

Every 14 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer and together these cancers represent the fifth largest cancer group.

Patients with blood cancer can experience variation in their diagnosis and treatment, in part due to the diverse nature of the conditions. Clinicians across London came together to produce the guidelines to make sure that all patients receive the same high standard of care wherever they are treated in the capital.
